Visit the Duomo.. go early to avoid the lines. very beautiful and you cant miss it. just look up! great shopping in Florence.
Eat at Il Mangiarino near the Duomo for a delicious meal. www.imangiarino.com
Go to mercado di San Lorenzo for lunch. This fabulous market is the right place to get the freshest meats, veggie, salads and spices. You can buy your lunch and then sit upstairs in the eating area with a glass of vino or take it outside and sit on the steps of the church in the square. After lunch visit the bustling market where you will find leather goods and gifts.
Go To the Piazza del Michaelangelo to get a spectacular view of the whole city of Florence.
Visit the Uffizi museum. very beautiful.
Eat at Ristorante Celestino.. it was recommended to us by a shop owner and was an amazing meal. http://www.ristorantecelestino.it/ it is on the opposite side of the Ponte Vecchio within walking distance from the Pitti Palace which is worth going to.. you can buy tickets to both the Palace and the Gardens so you only have to stand on line once.
Visit the Gucci museum.. we did not get to go but I heard it was great. Also of interest is the Galileo Museum near the Ponte Vecchio.
Wander all around the beautiful streets of Positano and make sure to have some lemon ice which is their specialty. Also of course enjoy the limoncello after every meal. If you want an authentic Italian meal with entertainment you must go to Trattoria La Tagliata. Have your concierge make a reservation and they will pick you up for a “hair raising” winding trip up the mountain. There is no menu and the food, drinks and dancing keep you so busy you are not scared on the ride down the mountain afterwards. The food is amazing, fresh and delicious with house red wine and the music is fabulous. www.latagliata.com
feeling adventurous? go down to the beach and rent a little boat and drive the Amalfi Coast. Take a stop at any port for a delicious and authentic Italian lunch and then head back to Positano.
Milan is known as a shopping Mecca. While we did not have a lot of time there it is truly a beautiful city. After 2 weeks in Italy we had become foodies of Gelato and if you are ever in Milan Cioccolatitaliani is the BEST. You go in and get a number while you wait on a very long line (don’t worry , it goes pretty fast) and you have plenty of time to figure out what you want. You pay by the scoop and it is worth mixing and matching and sharing! Don’t Miss it! Manga! http://www.cioccolatitaliani.it/.
www.dariocecchini.com in Panzano. If you love beef this is the place for you with its long sharing tables filled with tuscan bread and wine and carrot sticks. They bring you every cut of steak and explain all the different cuts of meat in a fun and entertaining way. The wait staff is delightful and make the dining experience one to remember. The food is unbelievable, you meet people from all over the world. Wonderful experience. Don’t Miss It! You can also sign up for cooking classes or order their products online. A true gem.
